SCLIGHTSMOKING KILLS

Silk Cut Purple

The brand that made low tar a design statement. The design has aged better than the smoke.

In production since 1964

Far East buys every product it reviews at retail. We take no money from tobacco manufacturers, run no affiliate links and sell nothing. Prices shown are indicative retail in the product’s home market.

Our notes

Silk Cut Purple is heavily ventilated and tastes it — the smoke is thin and cool with a faint paper note that becomes the dominant flavour in the last third.

The blend is clean and the construction is fine. There simply is not much there.

What works
  • Very cool smoke
  • Clean, no harshness
  • Iconic pack design
What does not
  • Paper note dominates the final third
  • Thin body even for a 6mg
  • Poor value at UK prices

Tar and nicotine are the manufacturer or market-label declarations, measured by machine under ISO conditions. They do not describe what any individual smoker inhales.

Smoking kills. A high reader rating means people who smoke it like it. It does not mean it is safe, and no cigarette in this catalogue is safer than any other.
