CFULLSMOKING KILLS

Camel Filters

The original American blend, and still the one with the most Turkish leaf in it.

In production since 1913

Far East buys every product it reviews at retail. We take no money from tobacco manufacturers, run no affiliate links and sell nothing. Prices shown are indicative retail in the product’s home market.

Our notes

Camel is the more interesting of the two American giants. The Turkish component gives the smoke an unmistakable slightly sour, resinous edge that no competitor has tried to copy in a century, and it develops rather than flattening as the stick burns.

It divides people, which is exactly what we want from a review subject.

What works
  • Distinctive Turkish resinous note
  • Blend develops through the stick
  • Genuinely different from every other mass-market blend
What does not
  • Sour edge is polarising
  • Room odour is heavier than the tar rating suggests

Tar and nicotine are the manufacturer or market-label declarations, measured by machine under ISO conditions. They do not describe what any individual smoker inhales.

Smoking kills. A high reader rating means people who smoke it like it. It does not mean it is safe, and no cigarette in this catalogue is safer than any other.
