Our notes

It is easy to be dismissive about Marlboro Red and wrong to be. The American blend — Virginia, burley and Oriental with a cocoa-toned casing — is well balanced, the toasted mid-palate is distinctive, and the manufacturing tolerance is as tight as anything from Japan.

Where it loses ground is price and sameness: it tastes identical in forty countries, which is the point and also the limitation.
